Community Diabetes Program Coord - Endocrinology
SUMMARY: This position is accountable for functioning as the Coordinator for and development of the Community Diabetes Education and Prevention Program for Valley Children’s Healthcare. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Ambulatory Services, this position is a health professional that functions in the role of coordinator, clinician, educator, and consultant in the area of diabetic education and management. This position is accountable for planning, directing, coordinating and overseeing the development of the program. The Diabetic Program Coordinator will set short and long term goals of the project and perform outreach, public relations, advocacy and education as they pertain to diabetes and obesity prevention. This position will enable hospital staff to work with schools, community organizations and physicians throughout the Valley to help identify diabetes risk factors. This position will work in collaboration with the Endocrinologists and physician stakeholders at Children’s to establish the program. This position will oversee existing partnership and be responsible for creating new ones by working with healthcare facilities, physician offices, schools and other appropriate venues.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires: A) Bachelor's Degree in a Healthcare related field, Master's Degree in Public Health is preferred); C) a valid California Driver's License (CDL) and automobile liability insurance coverage with minimum limits as required by state law (CAR INS); D) Minimum of three (3) years experience in program development, coordination & oversight; preferably in Healthcare; and E) HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of placement in position. Bilingual skills desirable.
POSITION DETAILS: Full Time, 80 hours per pay period
