Emergency Support Technician - Emergency Department

JOB SUMMARY: This position is an unlicensed multi-skilled worker who supports patient care by performing specific tasks as delegated by a licensed provider. The ability to work in a team environment and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a timely manner are required. Care provided by the EST is supervised by a Registered Nurse. Phlebotomy is provided by the EST under the supervision of the Department of Laboratory.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires: A) a High School Diploma/GED; B) completion of a patient care program (e.g. EMT, CNA, MA) or two semesters of a nursing program. EMT 1 course preferred; C) a current certification in California as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or II (CPT-I or CPT-II); and D) a BLS certification. Prior experience in pre-hospital or emergency care, and 6 months of phlebotomy experience preferred. Medical terminology preferred. Bilingual skills desired.
