JOB SUMMARY: This position is accountable for serving as a consultant in the care of peri-operative patients. The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) practices under the supervision of the surgeon during the intra-operative phase of the peri-operative experience. The RNFA provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the surgical setting. Performs within the scope and licensure and in accordance with Children's policies.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires: A) a graduate from an accredited nursing program. BSN strongly preferred; B) an active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN); C) successful completion of accredited course in RN First Assisting that satisfies AORN standards; D) Certified Nurse of the Operating Room credential (CNOR); E) a HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days; and F) a minimum of 3 years operating room experience in both scrub and circulating role. Prefer pediatric experience.
