Cardiac Sonographer Lead - Echocardiology

SUMMARY: Working under the direction of the department manager, this position performs a variety of medical procedures with mastery, producing quality studies under a variety of conditions. Serves as a clinical expert and resource for the Sonography Department including performing and assisting in fetal cardiac, transesophageal, epicardial and intracardiac echocardiographic procedures in outpatient, inpatient, cath lab and operative environments. Acts as a department resource to the Cardiologist and service-line. Participates in the rotation of on-call duties and Outreach Clinic involvement with other Cardiac Sonographers. Generates and prepares a draft echocardiogram report using the archiving and report writing software. Assists in the identification and resolution of work process issues within the department. Assists with staff scheduling and provides feedback to management regarding performance issues and appraisals. Performs EKGs, Holter and multi-event applications as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: College Degree - 2 year Accredited Echocardiography/ Ultrasonography And Accredited Echocardiography/ Ultrasonography Technical/ Vocational Training required. College Degree - 4 year Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography preferred. BLS - Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire or transfer into position, RDCS-PE - ARDMS Pediatric Echocardiography, RDCS-AE - RDMS Adult Echocardiography and RDCS-FE - ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography required. Minimum five (5) years progressively responsible experience required. Demonstrated knowledge of Cardiac Embryology, congenital heart defects, cardiac Hemodynamics and palliative/ corrective congenital heart surgical procedures. Bilingual skills preferred.
