Cook I - PT/Varied

JOB SUMMARY: This position is accountable for preparing food items for the cafeteria, patient meal service, and special functions meal service. Checks and stores leftover food items and follows standardized recipes. Completes any pre-preparation of hot food items for the following day's meal service.

REQUIREMENTS: The position requires High School Diploma or GED. College Degree - 2 year in Culinary Preferred. Minimum six (6) monthsprevious cook experience in an acute healthcare facility required or Minimumsix (6) months previous prep cook in large volume food service required. Mustbe able to read, write legibly, understand, and follow oral and written Englishinstruction. Ability to prepare and serve in quantity following standardizedrecipes using different cooking processes and methods. Knowledge of materialsused in large-scale food production. Knowledge of the use and care of equipmentand utensils. Knowledge of food safety principles. Knowledge of basicmath skills used in cooking. Must have good teamwork skills and ifworking in Patient Services as a cook must understand modifieddiets.

POSITION DETAILS: Part-time, 40 hours per pay period. Varied shifts - All shifts, weekends and holidays are required
