Manager Pharmacy Clinical - Pharmacy

SUMMARY: This position reports to the Pharmacy Director, is responsible for all aspects of pharmacy clinical services which promote safe, rational, and cost-effective drug therapy. Responsible for evaluating, developing and implementing: clinical pharmacy programs for inpatient and ambulatory care, staff development and education, protocol development and formulary management, as well as research involving pharmacy services. Serves as pharmacology consultant and provides clinical drug services to meet the needs of patients, nurses, physicians and other healthcare providers. Assures that all pharmacy staff are clinically competent and provide accurate, safe, efficient, cost-effective and patient-specific pharmacotherapy. Methods utilized to achieve these goals may include: education and training programs, policies and procedures, and monitoring of staff performance of provision of cognitive services including but not limited to reviews for: OPPE, FPPE, Peer Reviews, Protocol reviews, provision of drug information, participation in code blues and trauma activations, provision of lectures and presentations to staff. Participates in departmental planning and goal setting, budget preparation and adherence, and performance standards in order to assist in leading the department to the achievement of excellence in pharmacy practice. The individual must display maturity, independence, initiative, and strong communication skills. Supervises the Residency and Education Supervisors and other Clinical Pharmacists and Technicians.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy as well as a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. ASHP Accredited Residency Program and Post Graduate Year in Pharmacy - 2nd year are both preferred. A valid California state Pharmacy license as well as one (1) year management experience and five (5) years progressively responsible experience is required. Minimum ten (10) years demonstrated mastery of the job content through success in this role in multiple organizations is preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position. Pediatric Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are both required within 12 months of hire or transfer into position.
