Pharmacist - Compounding/Compliance - Pharmacy

SUMMARY: This position reports to the Pharmacy Director, and will oversee the daily operations of the complex sterile and non-sterile compounding programs. The incumbent will develop, review/revise, implement, and oversee Policies, Procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding sterile and nonsterile preparations to insure compliance with state, federal, and other regulatory and governing bodies, for both hazardous and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals at Valley Children's Hospital Pharmacy. Will coordinate and supervise hazardous and non-hazardous compounding training of newly hired technicians and pharmacists, as well as their yearly competency and training records. In collaboration with the Pharmacy Operations Manager, Technician Manager, Oncology Lead Pharmacist, PN Lead Pharmacist, PICU Lead Pharmacist, and Main Pharmacy Lead Pharmacist, will set standards and methodology for training of new IV room staff (as well as annual reorientation for existing staff), and will work to enforce proper cleanroom behaviors at all times. Will complete BOP's Annual Compounding Self-Assessment in collaboration with DOP and Pharmacy Operations Manager. Will execute and evaluate environmental and personnel testing for USP797/800 compliance, analyze and correct causes for all test results excursions. Will act as the point person for facility's issues within all compounding areas (e.g., collaborating with Plant Services, EVS, Infection Prevention, Microbiology, etc.). Will work collaboratively with IT Pharmacist(s) to update/maintain the systems related to compounding. Will oversee and maintain up-to-date records including master formulas (both sterile and non-sterile), electronic compounding templates, and automated compounding robot training records for both products and personnel. All other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required. ASHP Accredited Residency Program and Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BCPS, BCPPS, etc.) preferred. RPH - Reg Pharmacist California State Board of Pharmacy and BLS - Basic Life Support within 90 days of hire or transfer into position required. ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred. Minimum three (3) years progressively responsible experience in related field required. Minimum one (1) year Supervisory or Management experience preferred.

POSITION DETAILS: Part-time, 40 hours per pay period.
