PICU Pharmacist Lead - Hospital - Pharmacy

SUMMARY: The Lead Pharmacist serves as the clinical expert and operational resource for a designated specialty area (Oncology, Med/Surg, NICU, PICU, Parenteral Nutrition). Works directly with Department Management to identify and resolve operational and clinical issues within the department and/or specialty area, holding quality and patient safety to the utmost importance. Works directly with the Pharmacy and Unit Leadership in the creation and modification of pharmacy protocols, policies, and procedures, including implementation and ongoing education. Actively participates in evaluation of pharmacy metrics and recommends innovative operational and clinical improvements to ensure practice excellence. The lead shall provide education, training, and feedback to management regarding staff performance within the specialty area.

REQUIREMENTS: Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) required. Accredited Pharmacy Residency Program in Pediatrics preferred. Current Registered Pharmacist with the California State Board of Pharmacy required. One (1) year hospital experience required. Additional certifications such as Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification, Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, etc. preferred. BLS (Basic Life Support) required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 12 months of hire or transfer into position. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) encouraged for those serving in this position.

Demonstrated ability to give both positive and constructive feedback to management, technician and pharmacist staff members, residents, and students.

POSITION DETAILS: Full time, 80 hours per pay period. Day shift. Rotating ten hour shifts, and every other weekend.
