Safety Coordinator - Benefits & Wellness

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for developing and coordinating the Hospital’s Environment of Care safety programs with an emphasis on Safety Management, Hazardous Materials Management, and Regulated Medical Waste. This role regularly serves in a highly visible capacity: experience, skills, demeanor and the ability to handle difficult and stressful circumstances are a clear expectation. This position serves as the Hospital’s Safety Officer.

*Maintains continuous survey readiness through compliance with all local, federal, and state regulations.

*Ensure all Joint Commission guidelines for the physical Environment of Care standards at the Hospital remain compliant.

*Coordinates activities of the management plans within the Environment of Care for the Hospital and serves as the Safety Officer.

*Responsible for the successful creation, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing environmental safety, hazardous materials, and regulated medical waste plans and programs.

*Coordinates multi-disciplinary teams to participate in data analysis and process improvement activities.

*Reviews safety data and other information to identify areas of risk and make recommendations for improvement.

*Participates in the Hospital’s emergency’s response program.

*Identifies training needs, develops appropriate training programs, and delivers training to employees.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Four year college Degree in related field or equivalent related experience required; Valid CA Driver's license with acceptable driving record required; Minimum five years related experience required. Experience in the health care environment, safety, hazardous materials, and emergency planning preferred.
