Speech Pathologist CCC I - Speech - FT/Days

SUMMARY: This position is for a speech language pathologist who provides direct patient care and/or consultative services for the medically complex infants in a Neonatal Intensive Care Level IV Unit (NICU). The NICU therapy role works very closely within a multidisciplinary team. Focus is on maximizing developmental outcomes, supporting infant /caregiver bonding and interactions, and supporting neurodevelopment throughout the NICU stay.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. SP - Speech Language Pathologist certification required within 12 months of hire or transfer into position or Required Professional Experience (RPE) in process. ASHA - American Speech Language Assn certification for full-time employee is preferred within 12 months of hire or transfer into position, or ASHA - American Speech Language Assn. certification for part-time employee is preferred within 18 months of hire or transfer into position, or Clinical Fellowship (CF) in process is preferred. BLS - Basic Life Support is required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position. Bilingual skills are desirable.

POSITION DETAILS: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period.

May include but not limited to:
-Assess the developmental needs of neonates and their families, assist in planning, development, coordination, teaching and evaluation of family-centered developmentally supportive care strategies.
-Evaluate and treat infants in the NICU with a variety of diagnoses which may affect the following systems: family and psychosocial, neurodevelopment, neurobehavioral, sensory, prelinguistic, and feeding/swallowing for babies with cleft palate and/or craniofacial conditions.
-Develop and initiate individualized therapeutic interventions based on the treatment plan.
-Educate staff in a collaborative and supportive manner regarding therapy in the NICU for premature/late term/high risk infant development and developmental care.
-Inpatient/Rehabilitation coverage on occasional Saturdays.

A candidate with birth-to-three year experience is highly preferred. Will consider a strong Clinical Fellow Candidate for this role. Occasional weekend and/or holiday coverage is required.
