Supervisor Diagnostic Med Sonographers - Ultrasonography

SUMMARY: Responsible for the supervision of the Diagnostic Ultrasound department's day-to-day operational needs, staffing, schedules, customer satisfaction, change management, process & quality improvement, hiring, on-boarding & training, coaching, career development, appraisals and disciplinary actions, performance improvement initiatives and budgeting. Performs all of the duties and adheres to the standards of a Ultrasonographer III with proficiency. Serves as a clinical, technical and operational resource utilizing various ultrasound units and PACS. Exercises independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the application of non-ionizing high frequency ultrasonic waves required. Demonstrates experience or high level of competency in working with leadership to improve technical performance, implementing new technology and/or software applications, maintain or develop exam protocols, mentoring or teaching in respective specialty, and/or improving operational efficiency within their department. Maintains supplies and inventories for respective modality or work area. Applies the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice. Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in Environment of Care.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a high school diploma/GED and graduate of formal program in Ultrasonography or Radiologic Technology or Bachelor's Degree or an Associate's Degree in Radiology or Ultrasonography. Minimum five (5) years Ultrasonography experience as well as a minimum two (2) years leadership experience and experience or demonstrated ability in management and supervisory responsibilities.

Must have strong communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving. Must be available after hours as a resource. Call and rotating shifts may be required. Will serve on internal or external committees.

Certifications required include the following:

  • BLS
  • RDMS - AB - ARDMS Abdomen
  • RDMS - OBGYN - ARDMS Obstetrics/Gynecology
  • ARDMS - American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Songraphy - At least one (1) other specialty

POSITION DETAILS: Full time exempt level
