Temporary Ambulatory Service Rep - Labor Pool

SUMMARY: The Ambulatory Service Representative (ASR) welcomes patients and families and performs check-in procedures in a timely, customer friendly and efficient manner in accordance with VCH guidelines. Responsible for the patients' pre and in-person registration including the accurate capture and validation of demographic and insurance information, insurance eligibility, and the collection of co-payment, deductible and other known self-pay amounts. Partners with providers to schedule new referrals and follow up appointments for patients and coordinates appointments with other departments. Responsible for the provider end-of-day claim closure reconciliation procedures including screening of the charge capture system (ICD-10) diagnosis code and provider charge entry), claim creation, encounter closure and registration and front end claim edits for provider billing. Participates in department projects that result in process improvements to support accomplishment of strategic initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a High School Diploma or GED as well as a minimum two (2) years clerical and/or healthcare experience. Secretarial/clerical training is preferred. Proficient computer skills and aptitude as well as excellent communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to problem solve effectively are required. Handling multiple priorities is necessary for this role. Bilingual skills are preferred.
