SUMMARY:
The Ambulatory Service Representative (ASR) welcomes patients and families on arrival to the ambulatory practice and hospital outpatient areas and performs check-in procedures in a timely, customer friendly and efficient manner in accordance with Children’s Hospital guidelines. Responsible for the work related to the patient’s pre-registration and in-person registration including the accurate capture and validation of demographic and insurance data, insurance information collection and coding, insurance eligibility verification, and the collection of co-payment (both provider and facility), deductible and other known self-pay amounts. Partners with providers to schedule follow up appointments for patients during the visit as needed, and coordinates appointments with other departments and facilities as needed. Responsible for the provider end-of-day claim closure reconciliation procedures including screening of the charge capture system (ICD-9/10 diagnosis code and provider charge entry), claim creation, encounter closure and registration and front end claim edits for provider billing. Provides general clerical duties to the department and utilizes multiple systems effectively to support and maximize workflow and department operations and ensure accuracy and patient confidentiality (HIPAA). Participates in department projects that result in process improvements and contributes both individually and with the team to support accomplishment of strategic initiatives for the Division.
The Medical Assistant is accountable for basic clerical and technical supportive services within a defined scope of practice under the direction of a licensed physician or surgeon. The multi-skilled employee who partners with providers and clinic staff to provide ongoing support services to maximize efficiency while ensuring optimal patient/family experience. Welcomes/rooms patient and family in a timely efficient manner and collects patient information and vital signs specific to the practice setting (medical history, medication usage, etc). Effectively utilizes Valley Children's Healthcare systems, software and modules effectively to perform job-related functions. Documents all pertinent information in a precise, clear manner. Functions as a patient care team member assisting licensed staff in the performance and provision of safe, service-oriented and efficient patient care.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ambulatory Service Representative
This position requires a High School diploma/GED. Minimum two (2) years Clerical and/or healthcare experience required. Secretarial/clerical skills preferred. Proficient computer skills and aptitude, excellent communication/interpersonal skills as well as the ability to problem solve effectively and handle multiple priorities. Bilingual skills preferred.
Medical Assistant
This position requires a High School Diploma/G.E.D. Must have completed a Medical Assistant program or have the equivalent experience in a healthcare environment as a Medical Assistant or other patient care role. BLS - Basic Life Support is required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position. MA - Medical Assistant preferred. A minimum six (6) months in a health care environment providing direct care is preferred. Bilingual skills preferred. Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple priorities in a timely manner. Medical terminology skills preferred.
POSITION DETAILS: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period split between both positions. Day shifts
PAY RANGE: $18.70 - $27.10
