Cardiac Perfusionist - Surgery

This position is accountable for the operation and maintenance of cardiovascular perfusion for patients requiring support in the OR or other areas of the hospital. This includes cardiopulmonary bypass, cell savers, and intra-aortic balloon pumping in the operating rooms, supervision of ExtraCorporeal Life Support (ECLS) technologies in the OR and PICU, and the use of these technologies during transport. This position requires being on call approximately 50% of the time and assumes the duties of the Chief Perfusionist in their absence.

The Pediatric Perioperative Department at Valley Children’s is a robust division, incorporating many procedural areas and their associated support services. Periop supports every service line within a healthcare system providing care to patients within the Central Valley and its surrounding areas, collaborating with outlying facilities to accomplish the mission of the organization to provide the best care to our patients, always. With 12 Operating Rooms, you will work closely with surgeons or proceduralists, anesthesiologists, and other specialty technicians in order to provide care to patients. You will work within a team to set up for procedures, ensure safety and quality during surgery, and meet the goals of providing the best care possible to our patient population in an exciting OR environment. Surgical services offered in the OR at Valley Children’s include Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Ear, Nose, & Throat Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, General & GI Surgery, Urology, Robotic Assisted Surgery, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Ophthalmic Surgery, and Dental Surgery. A few notable achievements for our Periop department include being part of the highly skilled care teams recognized as some of the best in the country and the receiving the Competency & Credentialing Institute’s (CCI) award for a high percentage of certified perioperative nurses, advancing a culture of patient safety.

EXPERIENCE:

• Pediatric perfusion experience preferred
• Strong desire to work in pediatrics

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma as accredited by the US Department of Education or GED required
• Graduate from an accredited perfusion program
• Basic Life Support - BLS required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
• Certified Cardiac Perfusionist (CCP) from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusionist (ABCP) required within 24 months of hire or transfer into position
