Cardiac Sonographer Lead - Echocardiology

SUMMARY: Working under the direction of the department manager, this position provides support and coordination of day to day workflow within the department, including the identification and resolution of work process issues. In partnership with the department manager, coordinates ongoing education for sonographer team. Serves as a technical contact for equipment maintenance, training, and support for vendor communications. Acts as a PACS resource to address system issues as needed. Serves as a resource for the Sonography Department including performing echoes in the various clinical environments. Assists with staff scheduling as needed and provides feedback to management regarding performance issues and appraisals. Acts as a department resource to the Cardiologist and service-line. Participates in the rotation of on-call duties and Outreach Clinic involvement with other Cardiac Sonographers. Generates and prepares draft echocardiogram reports using the archiving and report writing software. Performs EKGs, Holter and multi-event applications as needed.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three (3) years progressively responsible experience
  • Minimum five (5) years progressively responsible experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac embryology, congenital heart defects, cardiac hemodynamics and palliative/corrective congenital heart surgical procedures
  • Bilingual skills preferred

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • College Degree - 2 year in Accredited Echocardiography/Ultrasonography OR completion of an accredited Echocardiography/Ultrasonography Technical/Vocational training program AND high school diploma/GED.
  • If individual has neither accredited program nor 2 year degree, high school diploma and equivalent experience sufficient to allow for successful completion of either ARDMS or CCI certification required below
  • College Degree - 4 year Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography preferred
  • BLS - Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
  • Cardiovascular Credtialing International (CCI) OR American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS) certification required within 18 months of hire or transfer into position
  • RDCS Adult Echocardiography preferred
  • RDCS Fetal Echocardiography preferred

POSITION DETAILS: Full time

PAY: $50.30 - 78.50
