Certified Coder I (Outpatient) - SMG Patient Accounting - Full Time

SUMMARY: Assigns ICD-10 CM/PCS diagnosis and procedures codes, and CPT-4 procedure codes to outpatient surgery medical records utilizing the 3M encoding software application. Applies modifiers as appropriate per the National Standards. Corrects coding edits for outpatient surgery records and for some department specific scenarios such as Medical Imaging. Abstracts clinical, financial and quality management information into the Hospital's information management system. Queries and communicates with physicians on documentation issues related to code assignment and provides feedback to physicians and the physician billing entity on variances between hospital and physician CPT coding. Monitors accounts receivable, abstract rejection, claims rejection and other associated billing reports. Performs outpatient surgery coding 70% or more of the total coding quality output.

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. CPC (Certified Professional Coder) required. Minimum two (2) years related experience required. Minimum two (2) years ICD 10 CM/PCS and CPT-4 coding experience with outpatient surgery medical records preferred.

POSITION DETAILS: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.

PAY RANGE: $24.90-$38.00
