Charge Nurse - Inpatient Oncology Unit - Full Time/Days
This position is accountable for managing the overall operations of a defined patient care unit during an assigned shift. The incumbent is accountable for monitoring, evaluation, and directing patient care provided by staff, coordinating activities of the patient care unit, making staff assignments and assisting with the development and evaluation of staff members. The incumbent will assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff, evaluating staff competency and evaluating, coaching, and counseling assigned staff in concert with the Manager/Supervisor. This position practices within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's policies.

The Pediatric Inpatient Oncology Unit, also known as Craycroft, specializes in oncology, hematology, rheumatology, renal, diabetic, and endocrine disorders. With 35 beds, Craycroft is uniquely designed to meet the needs of patients requiring isolation or those with mobility challenges. The unit features private rooms, each with a high-efficiency filter system to protect patients with weakened immune systems, and accommodations for overnight family stays. EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2 years full time or equivalent nursing experience required
- Experience in pediatrics, oncology and/or hospital inpatient setting a plus
- Prior leadership experience preferred
- Bilingual skills desirable
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program
- Bachelor’s degree required, Bachelors in nursing highly desirable
- Active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN)
- HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
- Pediatric Emergency Assess, Resuscitation & Stabilization (PEARS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position
