Charge Nurse - Pediatric Rehab - Full Time/Nights

JOB SUMMARY: This position is accountable for managing the overall operations of a defined patient care unit during an assigned shift. The incumbent is accountable for monitoring, evaluation, and directing patient care provided by staff, coordinating activities of the patient care unit, making staff assignments and assisting with the development and evaluation of staff members. The incumbent will assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff, evaluating staff competency and evaluating, coaching, and counseling assigned staff in concert with the Manager/Supervisor. This position practices within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's policies.

As the only pediatric rehabilitation program in the region, our expert team offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care. Our multi-professional team provides specialized therapies and nursing care to treat conditions ranging from common to the most unusual and complex in patients from birth to young adult.

Our 20-bed unit is accredited as an Inpatient Rehabilitation Pediatric Specialty Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) making Valley Children’s one of only two pediatric facilities in the state with this impressive designation, and one of only five on the West Coast. Nursing Job Description EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years full time or equivalent nursing experience required
  • Experience in pediatrics, rehab and/or hospital inpatient setting a plus
  • Prior leadership experience preferred
  • Bilingual skills desirable
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Bachelors in nursing highly desirable
  • Active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN)
  • HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
  • Pediatric Emergency Assess, Resuscitation & Stabilization (PEARS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position

POSITION DETAILS: Full time, 6 x 11.5-hour shifts per 2-week pay period, Night shift

PAY RANGE: $53.00 - $78.00
