Charge Nurse -Vascular Access - Patient Care Support

This position is accountable for managing the overall operations of a defined patient care unit during an assigned shift. The incumbent is accountable for monitoring, evaluation, and directing patient care provided by staff, coordinating activities of the patient care unit, making staff assignments and assisting with the development and evaluation of staff members. The incumbent will assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff, evaluating staff competency and evaluating, coaching, and counseling assigned staff in concert with the Manager/Supervisor. This position practices within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Valley Children's policies.
The Vascular Access Registered Nurse assesses and identifies the vascular access needs of the patient, coordinates and provides services for peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) placement in the hospital setting and for outpatient referrals and serves as a resource to staff for ongoing monitoring, maintenance and management of potential catheter-related complications.
Education
College Degree - 4 year (required)
College Degree - 4 year Nursing (preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing (required)
BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
PICC Certification (preferred)
Work Experience
Minimum three (3) years Full time or equivalent nursing experience (required)
Minimum one (1) year in a critical care unit (preferred)
