About Us:

The Pediatric Inpatient Oncology Unit, also known as Craycroft, specializes in oncology, hematology, rheumatology, renal, diabetic, and endocrine disorders. With 35 beds, Craycroft is uniquely designed to meet the needs of patients requiring isolation or those with mobility challenges. The unit features private rooms, each with a high-efficiency filter system to protect patients with weakened immune systems, and accommodations for overnight family stays.

Job Summary:

Under the direction and in collaboration with the department leadership, this position serves as a consultant in the care of patients and is accountable for coordinating and promoting a continuous learning environment that supports ongoing clinical staff development. The incumbent will collaborate with the leadership team in identifying and reviewing nursing clinical practice and procedures, equipment and processes that will enhance clinical operations and patient care outcomes. The coordinator will determine the unit's specific learner needs, planning, implementation, and evaluation of competency. This position practices within the scope of the Nursing Practice act, and in accordance with Valley Children's Healthcare policies.

Qualifications:


Education

  • Program Accredited nursing program (required)
  • College Degree - 2 year Nursing (required)
  • College Degree - 4 year Nursing (preferred)


Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing (required)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • PEARS - Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization - AHA - American Heart Association Discovery and Explorer only. within 12 months of hire or transfer into position (required)
  • Other - Other Magnet Recognized National Certification (preferred)


Work Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years Current pediatric clinical experience (required)


Skills and Abilities

  • Bilingual Skills Preferred
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Program
