Job Summary:
The Clinical Data Scientist III serves as a senior individual contributor responsible for applying advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and clinical domain expertise to support quality, patient safety, infection prevention, and performance improvement initiatives. This role leads the development and support of predictive analytics and surveillance functionality, enabling proactive identification of risk, emerging trends, and opportunities for prevention. The Clinical Data Scientist III partners closely with clinical, infection prevention, quality, and operational leaders to translate complex clinical and safety data into actionable insights that inform decision making, strengthen continuous improvement, and support strategic and regulatory priorities.Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelors Degree in data science, statistics, computer science, public health, epidemiology, informatics, or related field (required)
- Masters Degree quantitative or healthcare-related discipline (preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- In health-related field, such as RN, RCP. (preferred)
- Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) (preferred)
- CPHQ - Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality - NAHQ - National Association for Healthcare Quality (preferred)
- CPPS - Certified Professional in Patient Safety - CBPPS - Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety (preferred)
- Relevant certifications in data science, analytics, or healthcare informatics (preferred)
Work Experience
- Minimum three (3) years Related experience (required)
- Minimum five (5) years Increasingly responsible experience with demonstrated proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job. (preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis, data modeling, and analytic programming tools (e.g. SQL, Python, or equivalent).
Strong experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI).
Ability to interpret clinical and operational workflows and apply analytic insight appropriately.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex findings clearly.
High level of analytical judgement, curiosity, and attention to data integrity.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of hospital services and structure, including both internal data sources (e.g. billing and clinical systems) and regional/national databases (e.g. PHIS, PRISM, VON) data sources. Basic knowledge and understanding of the TJC and other regulatory body specifications.
