Clinical Informatics Instructional Designer


  • Works collaboratively with users of clinical information systems and facilitates the planning and execution of project activities to achieve departmental, organizational and medical staff priorities
  • Provides leadership and expertise in the planning of workflow redesign, implementation, and optimization
  • Serves as an educator and resource for communication, process improvement and quality initiatives
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team and key stakeholders to help identify and develop informatics solutions and to develop and support systematic, sustainable processes
  • Participates in workflow analysis and design in order to optimize functionality
  • Evaluates and develops appropriate adult learning strategies related to the use and optimization of the designated clinical systems/EMR(Electronic Medical Record) for providers
  • Develops education in alignment with the organizational strategic plan, regulatory requirements and clinical outcomes
  • Involves designing, developing and conducting health information systems training for providers
  • Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced training professional to conduct classroom and at-the-elbow training for clinical and non-clinical systems end-users with complex system workflows and maintains training environments


  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferred degree in education, Master’s Degree is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years working in teams and demonstrating the ability to take initiative, train and coach others through various learning technologies
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with instructional design including program design, development and delivery utilizing adult learning methodologies
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience, familiarity and understanding of quantitative and qualitative data along with the ability to present information to a variety of audiences
  • Prefer a minimum of 3 years’ experience explaining technical concepts to non-technical professional and a strong ability to translate administrative and operating requirements into clear, specific and actionable curriculum. Skills in the areas of project and change management, strategic and critical thinking, consulting and relationship building are also preferable
  • Experienced professional who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field; independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions
  • Experience with and thorough knowledge of health care information systems support within a large-scale healthcare organization
  • Demonstrated ability to provide expert-level training and consultative guidance.

POSITION DETAILS: Full Time, 80 hours per pay period, Exempt, Days. This position can be based from home but required to come on site a minimum of 1 day per week. Additionally, requests may be made for more at-the-elbow support which would require additional, potentially unscheduled days on site.
