Clinical Nurse Specialist - Emergency/Trauma

SUMMARY: The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an advanced practice nurse who functions in the role of expert clinician, educator, leader, consultant and researcher. In collaboration with the healthcare team, the CNS monitors the clinical care of patients and provides clinical support to improve patient care and outcomes. With in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience in a nursing specialty, the CNS sphere of influence includes the care of the patient/family, practice of nursing and providing solutions for complex systems and processes. The CNS serves as a role model, patient advocate, charge agent, and leader to enhance patient care. This position practices within the scope of the California Nursing Practices Act and in accordance with Valley Children's policies

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A) Master’s Degree in Nursing with Clinical Nurse Specialty required. B) Active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN) and Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) required, C) a minimum of 3 years related experience in a clinical area required, 5 years of experience in Emergency/trauma and/or pediatrics preferred. National Certification in area of specialty is highly desirable. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position.

POSITION DETAILS: Full Time, exempt level position, 80 hours per pay period
