Job Description

A Registered Nurse or Respiratory Care Practitioner who functions as the regional clinical liaison between Valley Children's Healthcare and partner organizations focusing on enhancing care for children. Facilitates coordinated collaboration through shared standards of care, inter-professional collaboration, clinical education and training and joint quality improvement activities. Provides operational oversight of the program through monitoring/evaluating partnership and program outcome and process indicators to improve access to care and patient care. With in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, the incumbent assists the healthcare team in providing solutions for identified issues and in navigating the healthcare systems and engages in the provision of clinical education for partnering facilities. Manages activities in collaboration with the Program Director and Medical Director. Practices within the scope of the California Nursing Practices Act or in alignment scope of practice established by the California Respiratory Care Board and in accordance with healthcare organizations policies and under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer.

The Clinical Partnership program, under the Business Development division, supports Valley Children's vision to provide the nation's best healthcare and to be the best children's hospital. Our goal is to improve access to our pediatric expertise for healthcare facilities in our region and to support enhanced care closer to the patient’s home. We partner with hospitals and outpatient centers to form teams focused on improving care for kids. These partnerships aim to limit unnecessary transfers and referrals and to provide care at the appropriate level. The program fosters ongoing partnerships through assessments of pediatric care standards, education, and quality metrics. This allows for identifying opportunities for improvement, leading to focused action plans to improve care. EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three (3) years clinical, leadership and/or project management experience in the inpatient hospital setting
  • Must have leadership and project management abilities and extensive advanced knowledge of nursing or respiratory care principles, clinical practice, quality and healthcare systems
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job in specialty area

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • College degree - 4 year in Nursing or Healthcare related field required
  • California Registered Nurse license OR California Respiratory Therapist license required. If Respiratory Therapist, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
  • California Driver’s License (CDL) is required with an acceptable driving record
  • Car insurance with minimum limits as required by state law is required
  • National certification in area of specialty is preferred
