Maternal-fetal medicine specialists are highly trained in complex pregnancies. Our physicians treat moms with health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, advanced maternal age, seizure disorders, bleeding, early labor or other health complications. We provide care for unborn babies that may have a birth defect and can identify 80-90 percent of babies who will need early neonatal intervention.

Job Summary:

Competently performs a variety of standard, specialty and complex obstetric diagnostic sonographic examinations and procedures with little or no supervision; producing quality studies under a variety of conditions. Demonstrates independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the application of non-ionizing high frequency ultrasonic waves for prenatal diagnosis. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Accurately receives instructions and ensures they are carried out as directed. Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by or at the request of the Perinatologist. Exercises professional judgment in the performance and delivery of service excellence while maintaining a demeanor complementary to medical and professional code of ethics. Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in Environment of Care. Position may involve some travel throughout the regional area.

Qualifications:


Education

  • High School Diploma (required) And

  • Program Graduate of a formal program in Ultrasonography that meets the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) qualifications or trained through a Radiology Technician program. (required) Or

  • Associates Degree Medical Sonography (or related field) i.e. successful completion in: ARRT Sonography Board in addition to ARRT Certification in SPI (required)


Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)

  • RDMS-OBGYN - ARDMS Obstetrics & Gynecology - ARDMS - American Registry of Medical Sonographers within 12 months of hire or transfer into position (required)

  • ARDMS In at least one (1) other specialty (preferred)


Work Experience

  • Minimum six (6) months Diagnostic Medical Sonograph (preferred)

  • Exposure to High Risk OB and Fetal Echocardiography (preferred)


Skills and Abilities

  • Bilingual Skills Preferred.

  • Must possess sound judgment and critical thinking skills to appropriately evaluate situations and determine the best method for achieving optimal results.
    Sound knowledge of anatomy/physiology within the perinatal environment.
    Good communication skills and ability to use proper channels of communication to achieve optimal service and results.
