Performs a variety of standard and specialty pediatric and obstetric diagnostic sonographic procedures with little or no supervision, accurately, producing quality studies under a variety of conditions. Assists in the identification and resolution of work process issues within the department. Applies the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice. Maintains knowledge of, observes, and enforces the safety measures in Environment of Care.

About Us:

The Ultrasound department at Valley Children’s Healthcare is comprised of a group of specialized multi-registered sonographers (ABD/OB-GYN/Pediatric/Vascular) that take pride in cultivating a solid foundation who performs a variety of Ultrasound imaging procedures, including trauma and elastography, to provide data for diagnosis and monitoring of disease and injuries in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements. Ultrasound serves inpatient, outpatient, and patients coming from the emergency department and requires competency in a variety of sonography equipment and technology facets, performing duties in an array of acute care pediatric-centered settings. This department is designed for those who desire utilizing technology working with a highly motivated team who demonstrates caring for children in an environment of sonographers, students, and others.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three (3) years Diagnostic Medical Sonography experience required
  • Pediatric experience preferred

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma as accredited by the US Department of Education or GED required AND a graduate from a formal program in Ultrasonography that meets the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) qualifications or trained through a Radiologic Technology program OR a College degree - 2 year in Ultrasonography (or other Imaging related field)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
  • ARDMS ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification in at least two of the following specialties required:
  • Abdomen (AB)
  • Pediatric Sonography (PS)
  • Obstetrics/Gynecology (OBGYN)
  • Breast (BR)
  • Vascular Technology (VT)
  • Nuchal Translucency (NT) or
  • Musculoskeletal (MSKS)
