About Us:
The Security Team plays a vital role in ensuring a safe healthcare environment for the hospital, building and grounds. We support a fast-paced environment as part of a level 2 trauma center. Security responds to incidents ranging from addressing aggressive individuals to completing visitor health screening. We patrol all premises and enforce visitor management expectations. Security Officers are the first to greet visitors entering and help visitors find their way. Customer Service is a priority as well as handling disturbances and communicating effectively to support family-centered-care with an empathy-led mindset. Security Officers respond to alarms, emergency requests and apply effective verbal intervention to resolve incidents. Security Officers maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling private healthcare information. The Security Officer is a collaborative team player who provides extraordinary customer service that makes a difference for the children and families that we serve. Job Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President, Facilities and Construction, the Director, Security is responsible for leading and continuously improving a comprehensive, enterprise-wide security program that ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors across all Valley Children's Healthcare facilities. This role provides strategic leadership and serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on risk, threats, and mitigation strategies, while ensuring compliance with healthcare and workplace safety regulations. The Director oversees 24/7 security operations through a hybrid model that integrates in-house personnel and partnerships with local law enforcement, including coordination with the Madera County Sheriff's Office. The position plays a critical role in advancing workplace violence prevention, incident response, and emergency preparedness, including participation in the Hospital Incident Command System and disaster response efforts. Additionally, the Director is responsible for managing physical security technologies such as surveillance, access control, and dispatch systems, while leveraging data and analytics to enhance performance. This leader also drives team development, fosters a culture of accountability and service excellence, and maintains strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies to support a modern, effective healthcare security program.Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelors Degree In related field (required) Or
- Equivalent Equivalent experience (required)
Work Experience
- Minimum seven (7) years Sworn law enforcement experience (municipal, county, state, or federal), including supervisory or command-level roles (four years experience at Sgt or above). (required)
- Minimum four (4) years Demonstrated experience in incident command, emergency response and threat management. (required)
- Healthcare experience. (preferred)
