Dispatcher - Transport - Part-time

JOB SUMMARY: This position is accountable for receiving and directing information pertaining to the referral or consultation of neonatal and pediatric patients in a fast-paced, dynamic environment under specific time constraints to facilitate patient throughput through Valley Children's Healthcare. The Access Center is the referral source for all interfacility referrals for inpatient care, telemedicine, specialty consults, ED transfers, critical care and trauma transport to and from Valley Children's Healthcare. The incumbent is responsible for dispatching transport teams, ambulances, and flight crews for critical care transport, and coordinating all non-patient care activities in the Access Center. Responsibilities include handling multiple phone lines in a high volume call center, accurate computer data entry that includes patient registration into the electronic health record, transport and flight metrics, and assisting with other hospital processes/duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires: A) a High School Diploma/G.E.D.; B) a minimum of three (3) years of healthcare experience required; C) Computer skills with proficiency using computers and computer applications, typing 45 WPM. Medical terminology - formal course work of competency gained through prior work experience in a healthcare field preferred. High call volume with multiple phone line experience. Experience using and inputting data into an electronic medical record preferred. Efficient data entry (detail oriented) with ability to document large amounts of data appropriately within time constraints. Teamwork - Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

POSITION DETAILS: Part-time, 40 hours per pay period with varied shifts.
