Fetal Cardiac Sonographer-Merced

Job Summary:
This position is accountable for accurately, safely and efficiently performing routine echocardiographic and congenital procedures with competency, including assisting in transesophageal, epicardial and intracardiac echocardiographic procedures in outpatient, inpatient, cath lab and operative environments. Acts as a department resource to the Cardiologist and service-line as required. Generates and prepares a draft echocardiogram report using the archiving and report writing software. Works under the direction of the Lead Cardiac Sonographer, department manager and medical direct. May functions as a preceptor, role model and clinical resource. Participates in the rotation of on-call duties and Outreach Clinic involvement with other Cardiac Sonographers as assigned. Performs EKGs, Holter and multi-event applications as needed. Performs EKGs, as needed.Qualifications:
Education
- Associates Degree Accredited Echocardiography/ Ultrasonography (required) Or
- Program Accredited Echocardiography/ Ultrasonography Technical/ Vocational Training (required) Or
- High School Diploma (required) And
- Equivalent If individual has neither accredited program nor 2 year degree, High School Diploma and equivalent experience sufficient to allow for successful completion of either ARDMS or CCI certification required below. (required)
- Bachelors Degree Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
- CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International - CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International within 18 months of hire or transfer into position (required) Or
- RDCS-PE - ARDMS Pediatric Echocardiography - ARDMS - American Registry of Medical Sonographers within 18 months of hire or transfer into position (required)
- RDCS-FE - ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography - ARDMS - American Registry of Medical Sonographers (required)
Work Experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job. (required)
- Minimum one (1) year Congenital & pediatric echocardiography (preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac embryology, congenital heart defects, cardiac hemodynamics and palliative/corrective congenital heart surgical procedures.
- Bilingual Skills Preferred.
