Financial Counselor - Admissions (Full Time)

SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Financial Counselor position requires fundamental knowledge of Valley Children's Hospitals' Financial Management policy as well as many different option that a patient may have for financial assistance. This position is accountable for providing assistance, referrals, and advocacy to the uninsured, under-insured patient, and Medi-Cal recipients for potential linkage to government program eligibility services. Will assist patients by answering any questions or concern they may have regarding government funding programs and/or billing issues. The Financial Counselor will have knowledge of all aspects of the department process from the registration process thru the billing. Set up arrangements/monthly installment plans for patients to payoff balances within the guidelines of VCH financial management policy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/G.E.D. required, Minimum three (3) years of related experience as a health care financial counseling and/or billing and collection at any hospital environment required. Minimum two (2) years general clerical experience, in a healthcare environment or professional office involving public contact, is preferred.

POSITION DETAILS: Full time (80 hours per pay period). Day shift.
