Instructional Designer - Clinical Informatics

The Instructional Designer is an experienced educational training professional who knows how to apply adult learning behavior theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field. They can independently perform the full range of responsibilities within the function, possess broad job knowledge, analyze problems / issues of diverse scope, and determine solutions. This position is involved in designing, developing, and conducting health information systems training for clinical and non-clinical end-users in alignment with the organizational strategic plan, regulatory requirements, and clinical outcomes. Under general supervision, plans and delivers classroom/virtual training and/or assists end-users with system functionality issues and assists in maintaining the training environment. They collaborate with cross-functional departments to design, develop and deliver education that supports the learning needs of nursing, clinical, diagnostics, clinics, and specialty service line stakeholders. Knowledgeable using Microsoft Office Suite, email, internet, and other training systems, i.e., Articulate and ability to troubleshoot basic PC and Epic issues. Assists with maintenance of training materials for assigned module(s). Prepares classroom ensuring adequate computer equipment, online access, and course materials for participants and assists with class scheduling and communication across teams and departments. Documents workflow / functionality issues and provides recommendations to improve training. Administers participant proficiency assessment and class evaluations at the end of each training session. Provides at-elbow support for new software releases and identifies additional training needs.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Instructional Designer I requirements: 2 years' experience in healthcare training and 1 year experience in Epic or other EMR required
  • Instructional Designer II requirements: 3 years' in healthcare training and 2 years' experience in Epic or other EMR required
  • Experience working with senior management, physicians and all levels of staff
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems preferred

EDUCATION/LICENCES/CERTIFICATIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related area required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Epic Certification - Epic Principal Trainer Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer into position

POSITION DETAILS: This position is full time, working 40 hours per week. This is a hybrid role working primarily from home but there may be a requirement to be on site from 1 to 3 days any given week and requirements might fluctuate based on current projects.

PAY RANGE: $38.25 - $62.10 per hour

PAY DISCLAIMER: Level 1 range $34.25 - $52.60 / Level II range $37.70 - $58.10
