At Valley Children’s, the Laboratory provides comprehensive clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology services for our extensive patient population. We are vital members of the interdisciplinary teams that care for patients across the Valley Children’s Healthcare system. Our work includes services for patients in emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings. As a VCH laboratorian, you will work in a special environment serving patients of all ages from the smallest infants to adults. Our pediatric testing offers unique experiences that include a focus on using specimens efficiently. Front line teams specialize in specimen collections, processing, histology, and support activities. Analytical teams staff a variety of sections that include core laboratory, microbiology, transfusion service, and point of care testing.

Job Summary:
Provides specimen collection and technical and clerical assistance within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Performs peripheral blood collection, assists nursing staff with line collections, and performs a variety of support functions in the clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology work areas. Technical support duties are overseen by licensed personnel and may include specimen accessioning and processing, preparing specimens for testing, equipment operation, and performing daily routines necessary for the efficient operation of the assigned work area. Clerical support duties may include patient registration, verification and ordering of laboratory tests, report processing, assisting with customer requests, and data collection.Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma (required)
Licenses and Certifications
- BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
- CPT-I - Certified Phlebotomy Technician I - CDPH - California Department of Public Health (required) Or
- CPT-II - Certified Phlebotomy Technician II - CDPH - California Department of Public Health (required)
Work Experience
- Minimum six (6) months related laboratory experience (preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Medical terminology preferred.
- Bilingual Skills Preferred.

- Shift hours 1230-2100
