Performs assigned assessment procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed, credentialed neuropsychologist with hospital privileges. Utilizes clinical interview skills, in addition structured psychometric assessment procedures to elicit accurate and concise information regarding the patient's cognitive, behavioral and/or emotional condition. Performs basic assessment procedures, including screening evaluations and/or structured/standardized testing of developmental, cognitive, behavioral and/or emotional functioning. Communicates assessment findings in a clear and concise manner to credentialed neuropsychologist. Assist credentialed providers with identifying diagnostic considerations or treatment strategies based on test findings, as well as providing patient education where necessary. May be asked to provide basic treatment or rehabilitation of patients with compromised brain functioning, under the supervision of a licensed provider. Observe, monitor, report, and record patient interaction and presentation during assessment sessions. Explains neuropsychological services and procedures to patient and/or care providers as necessary. Assists in, or arranges for patient referral to other facilities for continuation of care.

Our specialists in the Neuropsychology Department at Valley Children’s provide consultation and evaluation services for children and young adults with known or suspected dysfunction of the central nervous system (CNS: brain and spinal cord). Our doctors specialize in the assessment of brain and spinal cord functioning and disruption in relation to the patient’s abilities involving cognition (thinking and information processing), motor and sensory abilities, adaptive functioning, in addition to general behavior and emotional status. The Department of Neuropsychology provides services primarily for inpatient programs. Priority is given to inpatients and outpatient follow-up appointments for previous inpatients. There are limited resources for new outpatient consultations.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum one-year related experience required.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology or Behavioral Science required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Board of Psychology (BOP) certification preferred.
