Newborn Screening Coordinator
Job Description
Under the direction of the Newborn Screening (NBS) Project Director, provides follow up and coordinates care for both positive and non-positive Newborn Screening cases. Provides consultation/technical assistance to hospital NBS providers and birth attendants to ensure program compliance through appropriate NBS policies/procedures and interpretation/implementation of state regulations. Provides NBS educational programs for hospitals, birth attendants, health care professionals, community agencies and parent groups. Manages NBS confirmed positive cases to ensure that affected babies receive required specialty care. Documents case follow up and resolves cases appropriately in the Screening Information System (SIS). Job incumbents may be asked to perform other NBS duties consistent with the Newborn Screening Program Scope of Work (SOW), as permitted within their professional scope of practice.

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in related field and two years NBS experience required OR College Degree - 4-year nursing with a current California Registered Nurse licensure (RN) and one year of pediatric, maternal/child health, neonatal, or public health experience required OR Licensed Health Professional with two years of experience in a state newborn screening program required.
- RN - Reg Nurse required.
- Licensed Health Professional: RD, CGC, LCSW required.
