Nurse Practitioner - Guild Child Abuse Prevention/Treatment - Full Time

SUMMARY: The Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Practitioner who is accountable for a "defined" patient population. Functions in the roles of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, patient advocate, care coordinator and researcher within a specialized area of practice. Possesses and exhibits a high degree of knowledge, skill and competence in the provision of health care directly to the patient, family or community, or indirectly through guidance of care by other professional personnel. Provision of patient care is conducted and performed utilizing the medical model within the scope of licensure and in accordance with applicable law, regulations, and in accordance with CHCC policies. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to hospital needs. Upon acceptance of an offer of employment and prior to providing patient care, candidate must submit Scope of Practice and all information for credentialing, to the Medical Staff office, Hospital Interdisciplinary Professional Practice Council.

Located at Spruce Specialty Care Center in Fresno, the Child Advocacy Clinic (CAC) provides comprehensive medical services to suspected victims of child maltreatment. New patients may be referred 24/7 for medical consultations by child welfare, law enforcement, primary care physicians, hospitals and other collaborative partners. Children are followed after discharge from the hospital by pediatric child abuse specialists to monitor physical recovery, address psychosocial needs and provide referrals to outside agencies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Current California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license required, Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program. Master's Degree in Nursing. Minimum one year related experience. Prefer five years of increasingly responsible experience which demonstrates professional working knowledge of nursing theory and practice, with competency in physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology and pharmacology. Must successfully complete the credentialing process through the Valley Children's Medical Staff office via CIDP for the appropriate scope of practice, written standardized protocols, and furnishing privileges. Bilingual skills desirable. HeartCode Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position and Nurse Practitioner National Certification (NP-C) required within 6 months of hire or transfer into position.

POSITION DETAILS: Full-time exempt level position, Clinic is open Mon-Friday, closed on weekends and holidays. Must be willing to take call once oriented.
