Ophthalmology Tech - Ophthalmology - Full Time

SUMMARY: Under the direction of an Ophthalmologist, the Ophthalmology Technician provides technical services to assigned ophthalmic patients and assists in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. Takes patient history, conducts visual acuity screenings, and performs various technical procedures, including refractometry, tonometry and lensometry. Prepares patients for exams and procedures. Operates, maintains, and sanitizes ophthalmic equipment and instruments. Effectively utilizes Valley Children's systems, software and modules to perform job-related functions. Documents all pertinent information in a precise, clear manner. Functions as a patient care team member assisting licensed staff in the performance and provision of safe, service-oriented and efficient patient care.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires High School Diploma or GED. Graduation from Ophthalmic Technology Program or two (2) years in a similar role in lieu of patient care program preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position. Certified Ophthalmic (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) is preferred. Minimum six (6) months experience providing direct patient care and minimum one (1) year assisting in a medical office or hospital is preferred. Bilingual skills are preferred. Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple priorities in a timely manner is necessary. Medical terminology skills are preferred.

POSITION DETAILS: Full time 80 hours per pay period.

PAY RANGE: $18.70-$27.10
