Pediatric Nurse Extern - Ambulatory Treatment Center (Infusions)

SUMMARY: Performs nursing activities that have been documented as learned in the nursing program; may assist with medication administration upon completion of the pediatric theory and clinical course work, and successful completion of the Valley Children's medication examination.

The Ambulatory Treatment Center provides hospital setting medical treatment for children needing various infusions. Infusion therapy is administered to infants, children and adolescents in the Ambulatory Treatment Center (ATC) at Valley Children’s. The ATC is staffed by a team of nurses who infuse blood products, medications and fluids, monitor for medication side effects and coordinate care. The Ambulatory Treatment Center sees nearly 2,000 patients annually.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior work or volunteer experience is preferred

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Current enrollment with completion of at least two semesters/or equivalent in an accredited RN Program
  • Enrollment throughout employment in an approved Work Study Course through an affiliated school (Fresno City College, CSU Fresno, West Hills, COS, SJVC, Merced, CSU Stanislaus)
  • HeartCode Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
  • Advancement to PNE II is based on completion of the pediatric theory and clinical course work, and successful completion of the Valley Children's medication examination
  • Must be able to complete the full, weeklong new hire/clinical orientation in the summer

POSITION DETAILS: Per diem, typically 1 shift per week but can vary depending on school schedule, must work enough hours to satisfy work study course. Shifts may vary.

$21.00
