Pediatric Nurse Extern (PNE) - Inpatient Oncology Unit
About Us:
The Pediatric Inpatient Oncology Unit, also known as Craycroft, specializes in oncology, hematology, rheumatology, renal, diabetic, and endocrine disorders. With 35 beds, Craycroft is uniquely designed to meet the needs of patients requiring isolation or those with mobility challenges. The unit features private rooms, each with a high-efficiency filter system to protect patients with weakened immune systems, and accommodations for overnight family stays.

Job Summary:
Performs nursing activities that have been documented as learned in the nursing program; may assist with medication administration upon completion of the pediatric theory and clinical course work, and successful completion of the Valley Children's medication examination.Qualifications:
Please note:
- Must be continuously enrolled, throughout the duration of employment, in an approved Work Study course at an affiliated institution (Fresno City College, CSU Fresno, West Hills College, College of the Sequoias, SJVC, Merced College, or CSU Stanislaus).
- Must be able to complete the full, weeklong new hire/clinical orientation. Orientations are typically offered for Pediatric Nurse Externs in June, July and August
Education
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. (required)
- Current enrollment with completion of at least two semesters/or equivalent in an accredited RN Program (required)
Licenses and Certifications
- BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
Skills and Abilities
- Advancement to PNE II is based on completion of the pediatric theory and clinical course work
- Successful completion of the Children's Hospital medication examination
