Per Diem RN - Periop - Cardiac Cath Lab

JOB SUMMARY: This position isaccountable for providing competent nursing care and is responsible forcoordination of the patient’s plan of care though assessment planning,implementation and evaluation of nursing interventions that lead to establishedoutcomes. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurseexecutive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance withValley Children's Hospital polices.

The Pediatric CardiacCatheterization Laboratory, more commonly known as the Cath Lab, at TheWillson Heart Center offers all currently available pediatric diagnostic andinterventional procedures for infants, children and adolescents with congenitaland acquired heart disease. Our specialists offer improved care using thelatest techniques, including advanced endovascular therapeutics, enabling ourpediatric specialists to close a hole in a child’s heart through a 1/8-inchskin puncture.

The Cath Lab features fullydigital and completely computerized equipment, making it one of themost technologically advanced laboratories in the United States. Digitalimages are maintained and archived all on-line for immediate multi-user,simultaneous viewing at The Willson Heart Center’s cardiology andsurgery offices.

REQUIREMENTS: A) a graduate froman accredited nursing program. BSN strongly preferred; B) an active CaliforniaRegistered Nurse licensure (RN); C) Life Support Certifications (see specificsbelow); D) experience to correlate with Clinical Ladder. Bilingual skillsdesirable. Minimum six (6) months experience required.

Life Support Certifications Required:1) Heart Code Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days; 2) Advanced Cardiac LifeSupport (ACLS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position and 3)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 12 months of hire or transferinto position.

POSITION DETAILS: Per Diem, shift varies. Position will cross train into Interventional Radiology as well. Minimum of two 10-hour shift per pay period required to maintain position.
