Pharmacy Technician - Full-time/Varied
About Us:
The Inpatient Pharmacy Department at Valley Children’s utilizes evidence-based therapeutic guidelines to provide exceptional pharmaceutical care to our patients. Our highly trained pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work side-by-side with providers and other interprofessional teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes, while utilizing state-of-the-art technology to maximize patient safety.
Inpatient Pharmacy provides clinical interdisciplinary pharmacy services in all inpatient areas including Rehab, PICU, NICU, Acute Care, and Oncology. We have numerous pharmacy advance practice protocols including antibiotic monitoring, anticoagulation, IV to oral conversion, and renal dosing. Other clinically supported services include the Emergency Department, Palliative Care, Investigational Drug oversight, and parenteral nutrition (including production).
Our team members also support the following specialty clinics: Oncology, Hematology, Rheumatology, Pulmonology/CF, Endocrinology, Neurology, Cardiology and our complex primary care center. Many pharmacists hold collaborative practice agreements to optimize medication therapy management and collaborate to enhance patient care.
Job Summary:
This position works in a fast-paced, pediatric environment and is accountable for participating in medication order processing and safe handling of oral hazardous materials. Performs targeted technical duties related to preparation, packaging and labeling non-sterile drug products for specific patients with appropriate oversight by licensed personnel. Serves as a user for department specific systems including electronic dispensing machines, CII safe, and robotic dispensing machine. Performs daily pharmaceutical stocking duties. Completes record keeping, distribution and clerical duties as assigned. Mentors and trains new staff members as required.Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. (required)
Licenses and Certifications
- TCH-Pharmacy Technician License - CA-SBP - California State Board of Pharmacy (required)
Work Experience
- Minimum one (1) year Hospital pharmacy experience (preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Must possess the demonstrated basic math knowledge relevant to Pharmacy Technician role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills in order to be able to interact effectively at all levels in the organization.
Attention to detail and team-oriented behaviors are also essential.
