Job Description

Provides direction and day-to-day coordination of educational and departmental activities including administrative support to the Director of the residency program and Chief Residents; and educational coordination between attending physicians, residents, medical students and institutional and regulatory administrative offices.

The Department of Graduate Medical Education at Valley Children's Healthcare is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of physician leaders and scholars. Our mission is to empower residents and fellow trainees to excel as clinicians who promote collaborative, inter professional care tailored to the unique needs of children in the Central Valley. We proudly sponsor a robust Pediatric Residency Program and a specialized Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship Program, supporting 42 residents and 4 fellows. In addition, our institution serves as a vital pediatric training site for 20 residency and fellowship programs from across the Central Valley, further enriching our educational landscape. Each year, we host over 250 residents and medical students, fostering a collaborative learning environment. The Graduate Medical Education department plays a crucial role in the day-to-day administration of these programs, ensuring that our training is aligned with best practices. Our team is committed to maintaining educational excellence by developing and implementing training initiatives that meet or exceed the accreditation standards set forth by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Valley Children’s Healthcare - one of the largest pediatric healthcare networks in the nation - provides Central California’s only high-quality, comprehensive care exclusively for children, from before birth to young adulthood. With more than 670 physicians and 3,500 staff, Valley Children’s delivers high-quality, comprehensive care to more than 1.3 million children in our service area. Our network offers highly specialized medical and surgical services to care for children with conditions ranging from common to the highly complex at our 358-bed stand-alone children’s hospital that includes 28 regional NICU beds. Our family-centered, pediatric services extend from a leading pediatric cancer and blood disorders center home on the West Coast, and a pediatric heart center known for its expertise and pioneering treatments, to a Regional Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the highest level referral center between Los Angeles and the Bay Area. EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum one year related experience required.
  • Two years related experience preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills including desktop-publishing, word processing, databases and interest in continuing education in this area.
  • Background in healthcare preferred.
  • Research and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other departments and outside agencies.
  • Ability to work with individuals from different countries and cultures.
  • Skills in coordinating multiple, simultaneous ongoing program demands.
  • Knowledgeable in budget preparation and allocations .
  • Organizational abilities, attention to detail, dependability and trustworthiness.

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • If equivalent experience, high school diploma as accredited by the US Department of Education or GED required
