Job Description

This position is accountable for providing specialized and general psychological services to patients and families through clinical assessment, evaluation and therapy. In collaboration with other disciplines formulates and implements an outcome based, age/culturally appropriate, family centered treatment plan in an organized and timely manner.

About Us:

Valley Children’s pediatric psychologists evaluate and treat children with chronic medical illnesses and complex conditions who may struggle to adjust to their medical situations. They provide diagnostic and therapeutic services in the hospital, outpatient clinics, and the Outpatient Pediatric Psychology Clinic located in the Medical Office Building next to the main hospital. Our psychologists closely collaborate with other departments, including physicians, nurses, social workers, child life workers, and other staff. Services Offered and Conditions Treated Diagnostic Services Outpatient psychological evaluation Inpatient psychological evaluation Therapeutic Services Individual and family therapy Parent/child counseling Psychoeducation Expertise Adjustment and coping with chronic medical conditions Psychological factors affecting medical conditions Behavioral aspects of toileting problems Conditions Treated Patients with chronic medical illnesses or complex medical conditions who also have: Problems with adjusting and coping Adherence concerns Behavioral issues Factitious disorders (Conversion) Coping with pain Emotional issues Encopresis/Enuresis Fear of procedures

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum one (1) year Postdoctoral experience in pediatric psychology required
  • Bilingual skills preferred

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution, with specialization or postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology required
  • PSY - Psychologist license or eligible for license required
