The Quality and Performance Improvement department plays an important role in maintaining high standards of care, creating a culture of continuous improvement leading to optimal patient outcomes. As a dedicated support department, we actively collaborate with both clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure relevant, appropriate data collection, and analysis with the primary goal of improving patient outcomes. Our responsibilities include the organization and coordination of Performance Improvement projects across the organization, providing education on Quality Improvement methodologies, streamline processes, increasing efficiency, and reducing waste. Focusing on data-driven decision-making, our department is committed to ensuring data integrity that involves exploring innovative ways of data utilization, identifying trends in processes, and improving systems to make working with data more efficient. The department exemplifies high standards, collaboration, education, and process improvement to support a culture of inquiry, ensuring the development of Best Practice.
Job Summary:
Organizes and coordinates quality and/or performance improvement program projects, workflow and related activities in order to optimize hospital systems and services. Acts as liaison to hospital clinical staff, administration and physicians facilitating the implementation of quality improvement processes in support of established goals and priorities. Responsible for maintaining an ongoing method to objectively and systematically monitor and evaluate, the quality and appropriateness of patient care, patient outcomes, and hospital service. Provides ongoing support for performance improvement groups and teams, including team facilitation and coordination of measurement and improvement activities. Provides formal and informal education to physicians, managers and staff in the principles of performance improvement and measurement. Assists with various PI projects. With the goal of providing the necessary data for clinical and operational decision-making in a timely and cost-effective manner, works with the Quality and Patient Safety Team to evaluate current data sources to improve data integrity while triaging and overseeing the quality of new requests. Collaborates with medical and hospital leadership to provide effective consultation and analysis for reports and offers recommendations for enhancement of data sources consistent with organizational needs and expectations.Qualifications:
Education
- College Degree - 4 year in related field or equivalent experience (required)
- Masters Degree (preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- RN - Registered Nurse License - CA-BRN - California Board of Registered Nursing (preferred)
- PMP - Project Management Professional - PMI - Project Management Institute (preferred) Or
- CPHQ - Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality - NAHQ - National Association for Healthcare Quality (preferred)
Work Experience
- Minimum one (1) year Related experience (required)
- Minimum three (3) years Increasingly responsible experience with demonstrated proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job. (preferred)
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of hospital services and structure, including both internal data sources (e.g., billing and clinical systems) and regional/national databases (e.g., PHIS, PRISM, VON) data sources.
Basic knowledge and understanding of the TJC specifications.
Ability to communicate effectively concerning clinical data and processes.
Requires excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as well as comprehensive organizational abilities and facilitation and project management skills.
