Job Description

This position is accountable for providing competent nursing care for patients with common health problems, and is expected to deliver competent patient care to a full patient assignment. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's polices.

About Us:

Our Pediatric Hematology Clinic offers a comprehensive range of specialized services treating various blood disorders. From the most prevalent to the rarest conditions, our dedicated team ensures top-notch care to over 25 patient visits daily. Our facility houses an outpatient unit with well-equipped treatment rooms and an infusion center, where we prioritize Child Life and family centered care. As the only federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) in the Central Valley, we offer comprehensive care for bleeding and clotting issues, including hemophilia, thrombocytopenic disorders, and Von Willebrand disease. The clinic’s hemoglobinopathy program addresses prevalent conditions in the region like sickle cell anemia and thalassemia. We are proud to implement the Apheresis Program, uniquely benefiting patients with sickle cell disease by reducing Emergency Room visits during crisis. Being one of the 140 HTCs nationwide, our clinic actively contributes to research initiatives such as My Life Our Future (MLOF) and the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) Universal Data Collection Project, positively impacting our bleeding disorder patients. Collaborating with experts nationwide, we offer the latest treatments for thalassemia, sickle cell disease, and iron overload.

Valley Children’s Healthcare - one of the largest pediatric healthcare networks in the nation - provides Central California’s only high-quality, comprehensive care exclusively for children, from before birth to young adulthood. With more than 670 physicians and 3,500 staff, Valley Children’s delivers high-quality, comprehensive care to more than 1.3 million children in our service area. Our network offers highly specialized medical and surgical services to care for children with conditions ranging from common to the highly complex at our 358-bed stand-alone children’s hospital that includes 28 regional NICU beds. Our family-centered, pediatric services extend from a leading pediatric cancer and blood disorders center home on the West Coast, and a pediatric heart center known for its expertise and pioneering treatments, to a Regional Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the highest level referral center between Los Angeles and the Bay Area. EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1 year nursing experience required and must meet RN II clinical advancement program criteria
  • Experience in pediatrics, oncology and/or clinic setting a plus
  • Bilingual skills desirable

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, Bachelor’s in Nursing strongly preferred
  • Active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN)
  • HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
  • Pediatric Emergency Assess, Resuscitation and Stabilization (PEARS) required within 12 months of hire or transfer into position

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Top of pay scale for RN I-RN II is $66.20 and top of scale for RN III-RNIV is $70.00
