Registered Nurse - Pediatric Medical Respiratory Unit - Full Time/Days

SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for providing competent nursing care. Responsible for coordination of the patient's plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions that lead to established outcomes. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Valley Children's Hospital policies.

Apollo is a 36-bed acute care unit staffed with licensed Registered Nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel. Pediatric patients, from newborn to age twenty-two, are admitted to Apollo from a variety of areas including: the Emergency Department, ambulatory clinics within our service area, and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Patients who require respiratory support are most commonly admitted to Apollo and Apollo staff collaborate closely with licensed Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs) with an RCP assigned to every patient on the unit. The most common diagnoses include asthma, RSV/bronchiolitis, acute respiratory failure, chronic lung disease, and cystic fibrosis.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A) a graduate from an accredited nursing program. BSN strongly preferred; B) an active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN); C) Life Support Certifications (see specifics below); and D) Experience preferred but not required. New grads welcome to apply. Pediatric nurse experience a plus. Bilingual skills desirable.

Life Support Certifications Required: 1) Heart Code Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days; 2) Focused Pediatric Resuscitation (FPR) within 12 months.

POSITION DETAILS: Full Time, 6 x 11.5-hour shifts per pay period, day shift

PAY RANGE:$36.00 - $62.20
