Registered Nurse Per Diem - Pediatric Rehab
This position is accountable for providing competent nursing care for patients with common health problems, and is expected to deliver competent patient care to a full patient assignment. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's policies.
As the only pediatric rehabilitation program in the region,our expert team offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care. Ourmulti-professional team provides specialized therapies and nursing care totreat conditions ranging from common to the most unusual and complex inpatients from birth to young adult.
Our 20-bed unit is accredited as an Inpatient RehabilitationPediatric Specialty Program by the Commission on Accreditation ofRehabilitation Facilities (CARF) making Valley Children’s one of only twopediatric facilities in the state with this impressive designation, and one ofonly five on the West Coast. CARF Accreditation is an internationallyrecognized award that is given to organizations that demonstrate commitment toproviding the highest quality care and services.

The Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation unit specializes in long-term rehabilitation care and is one of only two California pediatric CARF-accredited facilities. We cater to a wide range of conditions, including traumatic brain injuries, multiple traumas, trach/vent patients, spinal cord injuries, stroke, orthopedic conditions, Guillan-Barre, and other neurologic disorders. Additionally, we offer specialized care for medical patients admitted to the hospital, leveraging our team’s exceptional expertise in an interdisciplinary setting. Our large playroom features two TVs for family entertainment and wall of cabinets filled with toys for patients. We also have a spacious kitchen area equipped with 2 ovens and an industrial-sized fridge and /freezer for families to use during their extended stay, ensuring their child is fully prepared for a smooth transition back home. Our commitment to patient success is evident in our focus on providing specialized education to empower patients to care for themselves before they return home. To ensure we maintain high standards, we utilize a national database to track patient outcomes, with Valley Children’s Rehab patients showing some of the best results in the country, particularly in achieving greater independence after our care.

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 6 months nursing experience and mastery of RN I performance standards and accompanying competencies required
- Experience in pediatrics or hospital inpatient setting a plus
- Bilingual skills desirable
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program, Bachelor’s in Nursing strongly preferred
- Active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN)
- HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer into position
- Pediatric Emergency Assess, Resuscitation & Stabilization (PEARS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position
