JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for providing competent nursing care. Responsible for coordination of the patient's plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions that lead to established outcomes. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice act, and in accordance with Valley Children's Hospital policies.

Discovery is a 35-bed, acute care medical unit. General duty nursing care is provided to the acutely ill pediatric patient on Discovery. Primary population served include GI patients, Infectious Diseases, Metabolic Diagnosis, and acute viral illnesses. Patient Care Services are provided utilizing the LEGACY care delivery model of care. The RN delivers and coordinates care in a collaborative manner with unlicensed staff, as well as staff from other disciplines.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires: A) a graduate from an accredited nursing program. BSN strongly preferred; B) an active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN); C) Life Support Certifications (see specifics below); D) One year of experience preferred, pediatric nurse experience a plus but new grads welcome to apply. Bilingual skills desirable.

Life Support Certifications Required:1) HeartCode Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days; 2) Focused Pediatric Resuscitation (FPR) within 12 months: of hire or transfer; 3) Pediatric Emergency Assess, Rec & Stabilization (PEARS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position.

POSITION DETAILS: Full time, 6 x 11.5-hour shifts per 2-week pay period, night shift

PAY RANGE: New Grad $33.65 - $61.20 / RN II - RN IV $36.00 - $61.20
