RN II - Periop - Surgery-General

SUMMARY: This positionis accountable for providing competent nursing care for patients with commonhealth problems, and is expected to deliver competent patient care to a fullpatient assignment. This position practices under the direction of thedesignated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act,and in accordance with Valley Children's Hospital policies.

Valley Children’s Healthcare's multidisciplinary approach creates a dynamicteam of pediatric surgeons, both general and specialty-based, workingtogether to generate optimal outcomes. These include complex plastic surgery,neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, orthopaedics andurology.

REQUIREMENTS: A)a graduate from an accredited nursing program. BSN strongly preferred; B) anactive California Registered Nurse licensure (RN); C) Minimum 6 months ofexperience and mastery of RN I performance standards and accompanyingcompetencies. D) Life Support Certifications (see specifics below); and E)experience to correlate with Clinical Ladder level. Bilingual skillsdesirable.

Life Support Certifications Required: 1) Heart Code Basic Life Support (BLS)within 30 days; 2) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 12 months and3) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 12 months of hire or transferinto position.

POSITION DETAILS: Six- 11.5 hour shifts per pay period. Call required. Primarily day shifts with periodic rotations to off shifts to cover PTO/leaves. Holiday in house and call shifts divided equally between all staff. Rotation through weekend in house shifts may be required periodically. Training/orientation period will be 4- 10 hour shifts/week. Upon completion of training will transition to regular shift. Previous Operating Room experience preferred.
