RN - Oncology Survivorship Coordinator - Full Time/Days

SUMMARY: The Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program works with cancer-free patients who are at least three years from completion of treatment. We welcome patients treated at Valley Children’s Hospital as well as survivors who received their cancer treatment at other facilities. Valley Children's created our Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program -- the only one of its kind in the region -- to serve this at-risk population by providing education, support and treatment.

The Registered Nurse/Survivorship Coordinator is accountable for providing competent nursing care. This position practices under the direction of the designated nurse executive, within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Valley Children's Hospital policies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Navigate the healthcare system to support the survivorship program
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure continued success of the survivorship patient population
  • Provide guidance, support, and well-defined patient education regarding the planned treatment
  • Direct involvement in providing nursing care to the hematology/oncology patient population
  • Assist with referrals to resources and specialty/clinics
  • Provide guidance on navigating the adult health care system
  • Assist in lead annual survivorship programs
  • Consistently monitor the program’s and patients’ success

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A) a graduate from an accredited nursing program. BSN strongly preferred; B) an active California Registered Nurse licensure (RN); C) Minimum 1 year experience in nursing preferred, oncology and/or pediatrics experience highly desirable, D) Life Support Certifications (see specifics below.

Life Support Certifications Required: 1) Heart Code Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days; 2) Pediatric Emergency Assess, Resuscitation & Stabilization (PEARS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position.

POSITION DETAILS: Full time, 80 hours per pay period, clinic hours are Monday through Friday, closed on weekends and holidays.
