Special Procedures Tech - Cardiac Cath Lab - Part-time/Days
About Us:
The Pediatric Cardiac Cath/Electrophysiology Lab and Interventional Radiology/Perianesthesia Imaging unit at Valley Children’s Hospital offers services for infants, children and adolescents with congenital and acquired heart disease and is part of the larger Perioperative team. This unit services patients coming to the Cardiac Cath/Electrophysiology Lab, Interventional Radiology, and an Imaging modality that requires anesthesia for the Imaging procedure to be completed (MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, etc.). The Cath Lab features fully digital and completely computerized equipment, making it one of the most technologically advanced laboratories in the United States.
This unit employs Registered Nurses, Perioperative Coordinators as well as Special Procedures, Patient Care and Cardiovascular Technicians. Each division works to provide their team with advancement opportunities that encourage self-development, offer process improvements, and ultimately work to improve outcomes for our patients.
Job Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist delivers high-quality patient care and essential technical support during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. Serving as a scrub technologist, this role operates advanced imaging equipment and ensures accurate monitoring, recording, and retrieval of procedural data using the Mac Lab system. In addition, the technologist supports the Electrophysiology (EP) program by scrubbing for rhythm-related procedures, including EP studies, complex ablations, and the implantation of permanent cardiac devices such as pacemakers and loop recorders.Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. (required)
- Program Graduate of formal accredited program in Radiologic Technology (required)
Licenses and Certifications
- BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required)
- CRT - California Radiologic Technologist License - CDPH - California Department of Public Health (required)
- RT-R - Rad Tech Radiography - ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (required)
- RHF - Rad Tech/Fluoroscopy License - CDPH - California Department of Public Health (required)
Additional Job Details
- On call shift requirements including nights, weekends and holidays. On call is expected to be able to report to the hospital within 30 minutes.
Skills and Abilities
- Computer Skills Preferred
- Procedural sterile field experience preferred
- Cardiac Cath lab experience preferred
